Washington State Capitol Building was built in 1982. The cost of building this Washington State Capitol Building was more than 7 billion dollars, which is huge for that time. The white dome of it is visible practically anywhere in the city. This is the tallest dome on the continent. This area is historic and fun to explore.
I explored their garden, fountains, and memorials. This place is great for bringing a picnic. Mostly, I enjoyed the Tivoli Fountain. Capitol Lake
Capitol Lake is a man-made lake that is 3 kilometers long. This is a place where you can go for a leisurely in the beauty of Deschutes River. Also, I saw there Glimpse of a ring-necked duck, Blue Heron, and Pied-Billed Grebe.
Mount Rainer National Park
If you are visiting Olympia, you can’t ignore Mount Rainer National Park. This place is my favorite place in the Olympia. Also, this is one of the most popular National parks in the USA for its natural beauty. There are many hiking trails in Mount Rainer National Park.
When you hike, you will explore rivers, through flower-filled meadows and past glaciers. You will also discover some of the most serene waterfalls you’ll ever see. For the nature of beauty, I keep this Place on the list of best things to do in Olympia, Washington.
Olympic Flight Museum
The Olympic Flight Museum is a large collection of vintage aircraft. This museum was founded in 1998. Olympic Flight Museum is a part of Olympia Regional Airport. I saw there were almost 20 aircraft in the display. Once upon a time, these aircraft were used in the United States Air Force, Marines, and Navy during World War 2 and the Vietnam War.
This place is a perfect destination for Solo or family travelers. For this reason, I keep the Olympic Flight Museum on the list of best things to do in Olympia, Washington. I visited the Olympic Flight Museum in June so I enjoyed the Olympic Air Show. Every June this museum hosts the Olympic Air Show.
Olympic National Park
Olympic National Park is one of the most picturesque in the country for its rainforests, rugged coastline, and steep peaks. To visit this park you have to drive for an hour from Olympia. I have mostly enjoyed Ruby Beach, Hurricane Ridge, and Hoh Rain Forest. Also, I enjoyed Shi Shi Beach and Sol Duc Hot Springs. Also, I enjoyed climbing, Mountain biking, and kayaking, Really that was a thrilling experience to me. So I tell you about the best things to do in Olympia, Washington then I must include Olympic National Park.
The Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Refuge
The Billy Frank Jr, Nisqually National Refuge is one of the best places to visit in Olympia. This Wildlife Refuge was established in 1974. The Purpose of the Billy Frank Jr. National Wildlife is to protect the plant and animal life at the Nisqually River Delta. I suggest you bring your binoculars because you will see here 200 species of birds. Also, I explored that there are both saltwater, freshwater, and Lush Forest.
The Hands-On Children’s Museum
I don’t recommend you to visit this place if you are not with children. But if you are then this can be one of the best choices for your children. I children can explore fun and can play outside and inside in the Hands-On Children’s Museum. As I was not with any children, I didn’t enjoy it as much.
Olympia Farmers Market
If you love handmade food then definitely you will love this market. You can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, handmade biscuits, pastries, and gourmet cheeses. You will enjoy some live music when will are shopping.
Historic Capital Theatre
Historic Capital Theatre is located on 5th Avenue, SW. This has been entertaining people for almost 100 years. Historic Capital Theatre was opened in 1924. This theatre shows indie films and live musical events. The local people display their culture and artwork through theatre.
Mima Mounds
Mima Mounds looks like bubble wrap mounds in SW Olympia. Some people think this place was created from earthquakes and some people think that this place was created from gophers. This is an awesome place to go for a hike in springtime.
