As a lover of cold weather, I decided to tour Aspen, Colorado. Aspen is mostly popular for hiking and skiing. In Aspen, I visited almost 20-25 places, but I will share with you the 11 places I enjoyed the most in Aspen, Colorado. So let’s enjoy the article about 11 best things to do in Aspen, Colorado.

 

Maroon Bells

Maroon Bells is 9 kilometers away from City Center. This place is more than 14000 feet above sea level. Twin peaks are most popular among wildlife watchers and hikers in Maroon Bells. When was visiting that place, I couldn’t stop myself from clicking pictures because of the beauty of this place. Multi-Colored Peaks and magnificent views made me feel like I was stepping inside a painting.


There are many campsites and trails in Maroon Bell. So Don’t forget to take your hiking boots. Overall this place is so beautiful that I can’t think this is the reason I keep this place on the list of the best things to do in Aspen, Colorado.


Crater Lake

This is one of the most attractive mountain lakes in the Aspen area. Creator Lake is just minutes away from Maroon Bells. It requires a bit of a trek to get there. Creator Lake is not as attractive as Maroon Bells. But also this place is a photo-worthy place. When I was in there wind was very little.


So I Saw some pleasing reflections on the lake and the view was fascinating. This place is full of the wild variety, so when you visit this place, most probably you will see a moose. This is a bear country so I recommend you bring some bear mace with you.


Independence Pass

Aspen is a walkable town. But I decided to rent a car for the 20-mile drive in Independence Pass. This is the most famous scenic track in the USA. Independence Pass is 12000 feet above sea level. It felt like a Hollywood stunt drive When I was driving a car in the Independence Pass.


Grottos Trail

When I was driving from Independence Pass I set some time to check out this pit stop Grotts Trail. This is 9 miles southeast of the town center. This was an easy and short woodland hike. I enjoyed several waterfalls and ice caves.


I explored some rock formations that can be hundreds of millions of years old. If you visit this place in summer then you have to skip ice cave. Because the ice cave will likely be too muddy and wet in summer.


Silver Queen Gondola

That was an amazing experience when I was enjoying the high rise above the trees. I have seen some jaw-dropping views. If you are a lover of skiing, then you should visit this palace in winter. But if you are a lover of hiking then you should visit this place in summer. It’s not that you can’t go hiking in the snow but if you want the full enjoyment of hiking come to this place in summer. 

 

Snowmass

This is the biggest and most popular ski area in Aspen. This is a place of winter sports lover’s dream place. Snowmass has three thousand acres of skiable slopes and terrain. This large complex has  150 miles of trails and numerous lifts. Also, this place has a wide range of shops and restaurants. This place has one of the best snowboarding schools in the USA.


Aspen Highlands

Aspen Highlands has been a local favorite ski place for over half a century. If you want to take a challenge this will be a perfect area for you. According to most people, this place is admirable for its local environment. After spending a few hours, you may take your dining in Cloud Alpine Bistro. When you take your dining you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Maroon Ball.


The Aspen Art Museum

If you want to visit something that is not related to the outdoors then The The Aspen Art Museum is highly recommended. The most amazing thing is that you can explore the Aspen Art Museum in also rainy days when you can’t go hiking and skiing. You can explore their architectural marvel. The Aspen Art Museum features the art of some of the most renowned artists in the world.


Everything in the museum is presented creatively. I spent here almost one hour. Before leaving the museum, I was hungry. So I decided to go to the museum cafe area. In summer it transforms into an outdoor dining space. For all these reasons The Aspen Art Museum is on the list of the best things to do in Aspen, Colorado.


Glenwood Springs Hot Springs Pool

Glenwood Springs Hot Springs Pool is just 40 miles northwest of Aspen. In this full area of Aspen, this place is most popular for shopping and dining opportunities. You can enjoy the most popular hot springs pool here.  The hot spring pool has been used by indigenous peoples for hundreds of years. You can enjoy this awesome hot springs pool for just 15-22 dollars.


Buttermilk

This place is for beginner skiers or those who visit with their children. Buttermilk is the perfect place to learn or teach them. There are 21 moles of open entry-level trails that are helpful for new skiers who want to learn better skiing.


Wheeler Opera House

The Wheeler Opera House was constructed in the 19th century by a business magnate named Jerome Wheeler. This opera house has entertained people for more than a hundred years. Wheeler Opera House was built with Victorian architecture.
