Winter Vacation in Aspen
Aspen is a winter wonderland for winter lovers. This city has many things to enjoy in winter. Last month, I spent my winter vacation in Aspen and I enjoyed it a lot. Basically, this city is famous for winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, dog sledding, and hot air balloon rides.
I have done many things in Aspen but didn’t enjoy all the activities. In this article, you will learn about the things I enjoyed most.

Winter vacation should only be done by exploring skiing and snowboarding. If you agree, Aspen should be on your list for skiing and snowboarding. There you will find four places for these activities. Buttermilk, Snowmass, Highlands, and Aspen Mountain are famous for skiing and snowboarding.
Aspen Mountain
Aspen Mountain is also known as Ajex. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier doesn’t matter; you will love this place after visiting Aspen Mountain.
Aspen Highlands
This palace is famous for its deep terrain, attracts, and steep. Aspen Highlands offers the most exhilarating snowboarding and skiing in the North USA.
Buttermilk
This place could be your favorite if you are a beginner or traveling with your family. This palace is perfect for learning and improving their skill because of its gentle slopes and excellent ski school.
Snowmass
This largest mountain has 3,300 acres of skiable terrain. Snowmass is famous for wide groomers, challenging glades, and terrain parks. This place is also the perfect palace for snowboarding and skiing.
Snowshoeing in Aspen
Aspen City is the perfect city for you if you love nature and want a peaceful adventure. You will find a lot of trails for snowshoeing. These trails are great for beginners because of their ease and flatness.
But the Maroon Bells trail is my favorite one for snowshoeing. Here you can enjoy the views of twin mountain peaks. This is a great place for people who want more challenging snowshoeing.
Also, the Hunter Creek Trail is my favorite. The Hunter Creek took me through a lovely valley and showed me old mining history.
I hired a guide. The advantage of having a guide is that you will know interesting facts about animal history, and plants of Aspen while you snowshoe. You don’t worry about gear. You can rent them from there.
But if you travel frequently in winter, buy Snowshoes, Poles, Boots, Gaiters, Clothing, Hats, Glasses, and other safety safety gear from Amazon.
Dog Sledding In Aspen
This is a unique way to experience your winter vacation in Aspen. I still can’t forget I was gliding through snowy trails, pulled by a team of strong dogs. When I meet the dogs, it starts with a big introduction about their care and training.
They loved to run and they pulled me through forests that were covered with snow. There enjoyed the beautiful views of snow mountains, crips, and fresh air. There were some stops for snacks and hot drinks.
This experience was special to me because it was about the ride and connecting with the dogs. This was the best winter activity for you.
Hot Air Balloon Rides in Aspen
Who doesn’t like to see the stunning mountain scenery from above? As I was in Aspen, how would I miss that opportunity? Hot air balloon raiders will be strongly recommended if you want to spend your winter vacation in Aspen.
Hot air balloon rides usually start early in the morning. After meeting your pilot and crew, will explain how it works and what to expect during the flight. When you’re ready, you have to climb into it.
I saw Aspen’s beautiful landscapes, snow-covered mountains, valleys, and forests when I rose into the sky. The views were so stunning that I could not get from the ground.
Snowmobiling in Aspen
This is the best option to explore the beauty of the rocky mountains and the snowy landscapes. During winter, snowmobiling in Apen is an exciting fun way to see the snowy mountain. I love nature and adventure, so I didn’t miss snowmobiling in Aspen.
Many companies in Aspen offer snowmobile tours. This place is a great place for both experienced and beginners. First, I got a quick lesson on how to use the snowmobile. Then, I started my ride on the trails.
That was easy to drive. I raided through open meadows, beautiful forests, and up to a high mountain viewpoint. During the tour, there were some stops where I took some pictures. Also, I visited the old mining sites and learned about local history.
Ice Skating in Aspen
Ice skating is an exhilarating way to spend winter vacation in Aspen. Whether an expert or a beginner, there are many places to skate. This city has some ice skating rinks, both outdoor and indoor. The best time to go skating is in the evening because of its festive lights.
I enjoyed both indoor and outdoor shaking. For indoor skating, The Lewis Ice Arena and the Aspen Ice Garden are the best options. These were well-maintained and comfortable environments for skating.
When I was there I was a beginner so I rented skates and also learned how to improve my skills. This is a great way to enjoy with your friends, family, or partner. After ice skating, you can drink a coffee at a nearby cafe.
Snow Tubing in Aspen
Snow Tubing is a thrilling winter activity Aspen is a great place for Snow Tubing. If you want to Snow Tubing in Aspen, then Snowmass is one of the best spots.
Snowmass Tubing Hill
This palace has a dedicated Tubing Hill. Well-groomed, smooth, and fast rides make this place special for Snow Tubing.
Snowmass Elk Camp
Another famous place for snow tubing in Snowmass is Elk Camp. You can enjoy Snow Tubing both time day and night in Elk Camp. This is one of the best places to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
No special skills are needed for this activity. Just take your Snow Tube and enjoy it with fun. You can rent it from there or you can buy Snow Tube from Amazon.
Aspen Recreation Center
No matter, if it is winter or summer enjoy many things at Aspen Recreation Center. Also no matter whether you are on a solo, family, or couple tour, this place should not be missed.
The indoor swimming pool is one of the main attractions of the Aspen Recreation Center. Also, there are many indoor things to do such as a water slide, lazy river, and a play area for kids. If you are a serious swimmer, there is also a lap pool for you.
You will find an ice skating rink where you can skate for fun. Also, you can join a hockey game there. You can also enjoy rock climbing at Aspen Recreation Center.
Are you with your family, your kids can enjoy air hockey and table tennis in the game room. This is a great place for those who want to play with their children. The Aspen Recreation Center is a great place for skating, climbing, working, and swimming.
Aspen Art Museum
This museum would be your best option for rotating exhibitions of classical and modern art worldwide. You can see sculptures, paintings, and installations by famous artists.
Aspen Art Museum has a rooftop sculpture garden to explore the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. For families, this museum has an option for fun and educational programs. Overall you should not compromise this place on your list for the winter vacation in Aspen.
Snow Biking in Aspen
This activity is an exciting way to explore winter outdoors. Snow biking also known as Pat Bikes helps you to ride smoothly over snow. This activity is a great workout to explore Aspen’s landscape in winter.
You can enjoy both biking and the beauty of snow-covered scenery. After snow biking, you can warm up yourself with a drink at a nearby cafe.
Spa Day in Aspen
A spa day in Aspen can unwind and relax you in your tour period. This place has many luxury spas to help you feel rejuvenated and refreshed.
Start with a smoothing massage. There are variety of massages to choose from deep tissue massage, Swedish, and hot stone in Aspen.
