Summer Vacation in Telluride, Colorado

Summer Vacation in Telluride

Telluride is a mind-blowing city. You can many things to do here. This is actually a great mountain town. This city is famous for skiing but it’s beautiful in summer. Before I went there I had compiled a list of the best things to do during summer vacation in Telluride, Colorado.

I completed the whole journey within 48 hours. So it was important for me to have a list. But honestly, it’s not that I like all the places. So I decided to share my good and bad experiences. Before I started my journey, I had to park my car in a parking place near Telluride Intermediate School. Then I went to enjoy a free Gondola Ride.

Free Gondola Ride on Mountain Village

So I started my trip with a free Gondola ride as I had only a limited budget. This is open seven days a week from 6:30 am to midnight. You can enjoy this free Gondola ride both in winter and summer.

The summer dates are May to October and the winter months are November to April. I had been riding in the gondola for 12 minutes for free. When I was riding on the gondola, the natural scenery was stunning. The Gondola in Telluride has 3 primary stations where you can start and unload.

  1. Station Telluride

  2. Station Mountain Village

  3. Station St. Sophia

I asked a gondola attendant for help with boarding. As I was with my cat, I asked them for patio cabins.

Shopping/Walking Downtown

So I just finished my Gondola ride on Downtown Telluride and decided to walk and shopping something. There I saw many cool shops with active gear and cute little bookstores.

Since I am busy traveling most of the time, I decided to buy some books. Whenever I get bored on a car journey, books help me overcome the boredom. Also, I was looking for a perfect mountain hat. Then I Finished some more shopping and headed to town Park.

Town Park

One of my favorite parts about Telluride is how family-friendly it truly is. You can come here with your partner, kids, and Pat. When I saw some of the dogs of the people visiting here roaming around me, I noticed that no one else had a cat there except me.

Town Park is open to the public and has many things to do here. You will find a Skate park, a Basketball field, a Soccer field, a volleyball field, and even a swimming pool here. So don’t miss Town Park during your summer vacation in Telluride.

Historic District

If you are interested in history come to the historic museum here. You can learn about coal mining history. The Telluride town was established in 1875. You can learn a lot of history before and after 1875 from here. Telluride Historical Museum is actually the old hospital and 600 babies are born here. Learn about why you should visit the Historic District.

Food in Telluride

After all this walking around has gotten us super hungry. So I decided to stop in Gnar to try some Gnar Tacos and it’s pretty cheap to eat. So I got in there.

After eating some tacos, I chose Pizza as a Pizza lover. So I went to Brown Dog one of the biggest pizza places in Telluride. I took a pizza that was super buttery and crunchy but not much thicker. It was a good middle grit.

For your information, there are many opportunities for food lovers in Telluride. I have mentioned some of these.

  1. Alpino Vino: Known for its gourmet disease and intimate setting.

  2. 221 Sount Oak: Known for its intimate atmosphere and wines.

  3. Brown Dog Pizza: Famous for its Detroit-style pizza.

  4. Ghost Town: This is one of the great places for breakfast or lunch.

  5. The Coffee Cowboy: It’s famous for light snacks and coffee.

  6. Gnar: Known for its delicious tacos.

  7. Siam: This is known for its unique dessert offerings.

Bridal Veil Trail

Then I headed to the Bridal Veil Trail. Bridal Veil Trail is the main attraction during summer vacation in Telluride. So I started my journey to the base of the stunning Bridal Veil that is 1.2 miles up and then 1.2 miles back down.

After 50 minutes of hiking, I saw the beautiful Bridle Falls. I saw a little swimming hole down there. It was so beautiful that I couldn’t miss swimming there.

Last summer one of my friends, Rayhan, visited this place and he told me about this place. Also, he told me that this place is a wonderful place to swim. I didn’t forget to bring a swimming suit. Overall that 2 hours of hiking trail was really amazing to enjoy.

Biking Through Town

It’s time to ride on a bike path through town. So I rented a cycle and started riding from Telluride High School. It’s about two miles long. But it took almost one hour to complete my ride because of taking photos.

I planned to ride the bike for some more time but by then it was evening. So my next destination is Blue Lake Trail.

Blue Lake Trail

It was early in the morning and I was in Blue Lake Trailhead. But my plan on go the Upper Blur Lake. For that, I had to register first but didn’t require any registration fee or permits. The Blue Lake Trail has stunning picturesque mountain views.

Near the trailhead, there is a place for champing. But before I came here, I didn’t know that. Otherwise, I would have been camping here last night. The water was blue and it looked stunning. I’ve never seen water this blue in my entire life.

How could I stop myself from swimming here? So I jump into the water. Although it was summer, the water was too cold to swim. That’s why I couldn’t stay in the water for more than 5 minutes. After drying my body, I Came and explored the surrounding area and this place was full of natural beauty.
