Best Things to Do During Summer Vacation in Seattle, Washington

Summer Vacation In Seattle

You can explore different activities in different seasons in Seattle. But summer is the best time to visit Seattle and you can explore many things to do. So you should spend your summer vacation in Seattle. I visited this place in mid-July and got the best weather but you can visit this place from June to September.

Seattle is a big city with stunning views. If you are a shopping or food lover, downtown Seattle has many things to do from historic Pike Place Market to the first original Starbucks. Also, you can explore stunning waterfront views, Banbridge Island, and many more things there. Below are the best things to do in Seattle and obviously it’s based on my last visiting experience.

Walk At Discovery Park

Discovery Park

Without visiting one of the lush parks, a visit to Seattle isn’t complete. Discovery Park is located about five miles north of downtown Seattle. Discovery Park offers a great taste of the Northwest landscape. This is the largest and most beautiful park in this city.

Here, you will discover many landscapes like open meadows, dramatic sea cliffs, tidal beaches, and thick forests. I did the Discovery Loop Trail. The round-trip distance is 3 miles and it takes 1 hour.

Vashon Island

Vashon Island

Let’s away from the hustle and bustle of Seattle. You can take a short ferry ride away from downtown Seattle. Vashon Island is known for its hiking trails, beaches, shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Don’t miss Vashon’s biggest event and the name of the event is Strawberry Festival. It usually runs for 3 days in mid-June.

Skiing or Hiking at Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie

If you are in Seattle, go skiing or hiking at Snoqualmie Pass. For that, you have to go 50 miles to the east of Seattle. Snoqualmie is a quick and easy destination from the city. Mostly I enjoyed the mountain views besides hiking in Seattle. But if you are there in winter then you can enjoy skiing.

My favorite hiking trail in the area is the Snow Lake Trail. The Snow Lake Trail is roughly 6 miles round trip and it takes me to a crystal clear and beautiful alpine lake. Also, it can be combined with a quick stop at the Snoqualmie Falls. So consider this place on your list of the summer vacation in Seattle and the best things to do.

Walk the Waterfront Piers

Waterfront Piers

You will explore tons of tourist attractions, seafood restaurants, and souvenir shops. Don’t miss taking incredible views from the Seattle Great Wheel. There you will see the Seattle Aquarium where you can explore Seattle’s sea life. Also, you can enjoy a virtual reality flight at the Wings Over Washington or a whale-watching tour. After doing all these things taste some test some local seafood at the Ivar’s restaurant.

Day Trip To Mt. Rainier National Park

Mt. Rainier National Park

You can do many things like fishing, mountaineering, picnics in the park, and hiking on wildflower trails. Please be aware that before you start fishing, you should know the rules and regulations about Washington fishing. You can read them online at www.wdfw.wa.gov. The best time to visit Mt. Rainer National Park is late July to early August. So don’t miss Mt. Rainier National Park on your list of summer vacation in Seattle and the best things to do.

Watch Live Music or Sports in Seattle

Show

This city allows you to catch a game or enjoy a concert. I enjoyed a baseball game at T-Mobile Park and also headed to the nearby Lumen Field to watch the Seattle Seahawks football team. If you are more interested in music than sports then join a concert at the Museum of Pop Culture or the Show Box.

View Of Seattle Space Needle

Seattle Space Needle

The Seattle Skyline is one of the most stunning ones in all of the USA. It was built in 1962. This is a modern marvel of architecture ever since. The Seattle Skyline is 605 feet tall. This is the tallest building in Northwestern United States. You can see close the Seattle Space Needle from the park around it.

Explore Seattle Center

Seattle Center

Seattle Center is a park in Seattle. Also, it’s a civic center. This is a famous tourist attraction, cultural center, and educational destination. You can explore the Pacific Science Center, McCaw Hall, Chihuly Garden, International Foutain, and Climate Pledge Arena here. You will find over 30 educational, sports, community programs, and culture here. So include this place on your list of the summer vacation in Seattle and the best things to do.

Seattle Underground Tour

Whenever I travel to any place, I never miss to learn about the history of that place. So I didn’t miss the Seattle Underground Tour. This underground tour lasts about 75 minutes. It starts near the Pioneer Square. This is a fun way to learn about Seattle’s history. When you are inside of it, you will see some lighting come from daylight. But here you can’t take any videos and pictures.

Pike Place Market

market

The Pike Place Market is one of the best atmospheres in downtown Seattle. Every minute thousands of people walk through the market. This market has the best chowder in the entire country. Make sure to stop at the first Starbucks ever. After Starbucks suggested you buy gum, bite it, and stick it on the wall. Here you will see millions of pieces of gum that tourists have stuck.
