Best Things to do in Valle Verzasca
Valle Verzasca is one of my favorite places in Switzerland. If someone asks me about the best things to do in Switzerland, I can’t stop myself from recommending Valle Verzasca place. Valle Verzasca has only a little bit more than 3000 people and this place is famous in Instagram reals. Last summer I had Valle Verzasca and the experience was amazing. The whole place is full of natural beauty.
If you don’t like crowds then I will recommend you visit this place during July and early August. So in this article, I will share my experience and describe about the best things to do in Valle Verzasca. So let me take you on the journey and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Valle Verzasca.
How to reach Valle Verzasca
You can reach the entrance of the Valley by bus, motorcycle, or car from Locarno. I will recommend you to visit by car or motorcycle. It will be time-saving for you.
Car
If you decide to drive a car then please be aware of the mountain roads because the mountain roads are narrow and windy. I don’t recommend it for everyone. Sometimes the road was busy and there were too many cars and I wish that I had taken the bus. If you are selecting a car for your tour in Valle Verzasca then don’t forget to buy a day park ticket. It will minimize your parking cost.
Public Transportation
In this place, public transportation is good here. The yellow color bus named Postauto brings you around the valley. This yellow bus even goes to the last village of Sonogno. Please note that always check the schedule of the buses as they don’t run very frequently
Lavertezzo Bridge
When you come near this place, you will see the beautiful creek with its clear water. When I was walking and seeing the beautiful creek with clear water I was already quite excited. When I reached the bridge I got to meet the humble paradise. When I visited thare was not too crowded because the weather wasn’t as good as a normal day. But on a normal day, this is a crowded place.
The water was so clear and looked so fantastic. This freshwater comes from the mountain. I am sure that no one can stop himself from bath in this water like me. But that day I was visited, the water was so cold. The water was 12 degrees Celsius but on a normal day, it’s 15 degrees Celsius. When I got into the water, it was so freezing. Although I was swimming and diving in the water for 15-20 minutes. When I was diving, I saw colorful rocks under the water.
Lavertezzo Bridge was truly paradise but the water can be quite deceiving. Many accidents have happened here. Even some people died in this place. So this is important to follow the roles of this place. You will see an attention board beside the bridge.
Safety Rules When Visiting Lavertezzo Bridge
01. Do not jump into less deep water
02. Don’t rush when entering the water.
03. If you have just eaten then don’t swim
04. Don’t submerge your head underwater
05. Don’t stay in the water for a long time.
06. Be aware of slippery rock
07. If you are playing a jump be aware of other people.
Restaurant in Valle Verzasca
After doing all of this I suggest you go for lunch. You will see a restaurant near Valle Verzasca named Osteria Vittoria. I think this is the best option for launch in Valle Verzasca. So this is one of the best things to do in Valle Verzasca. From this restaurant, you have a beautiful view of Lavertezzo village. You can try here some local delicacies food.
Lavertezzo Village
After lunch, I went to explore the beauty of Lavertezzo Village. Lavertezzo is a tradetinal Swizz village. You will see here, all the houses are made of stone. The architecture of those houses was simple. When you look upside you will see a church. You can take some hikes in that village. There you will find many trails. But the popular one would be up the valley and along the creek.
Corippo Village
Corippo is a mountain village that is the smallest in Switzerland. The population of the village is only 12 people and the youngest one is 60 years old. You can enjoy canyoning in Corippo even if you are a beginner. If you have planned to visit Crippo village, then don’t miss Roman Bridge. You can explore Verzasca Dam from the side of the village. All in all, my experience was so good in Corippo village.
Sonogno Village
Here you will be welcomed by picturesque scenery. You need a bit of a journey to reach this village. I enjoyed some charming alleys and stone houses. These things are nothing short of stunning. This is the last village in the valley, so don’t miss this village and keep this place on your list of best things to do in Valle Varzasca.
Frasco Village
After visiting Sonogno, I didn’t miss the chance to explore some waterfalls. For this, you simply visit Frasco. This is a small village. There was a beautiful restored 19th-century mill. Now, the mill is used for education purposes. So add Frasco to your best things to do in the Valle Varzasca list and explore something new.
Where to stay in Valle Verzasca
I visited Valle Verzasca many times but I never stayed there. If you start your tour early in the morning, I think you can enjoy all of The Tour Points in Valle Vezaca. But If you want to stay there for one or two days then I will recommend you to stay in Corippo. Some of their houses turned into hotel rooms. So if you stayed here you would explore a stone house.
