Interlaken is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland. Most people use Interlaken as a point to go to the many tourist attractions and Kulm, Interlaken is the closest attraction to Interlaken. Last year I visited Harder Kulm. I have explored Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch. Not only that, there was also a delicious restaurant I had tasted. All of my travel experience in Harder Kulm, I will share with you in this article.
How to reach Harder Kulm
Harder Railway Valley Station is the base station for Harder Kulm. This is a short distance from Interlaken Ost Station. There is no parking space near the station, so if you’re with a car then you have to get to your car in 5 minutes walking distance. Then you have to walk for five minutes and you will reach the station. This station was built almost a hundred years ago in 1908.
It will take 8 minutes to reach Harder Kulm. After reaching the mountains, when you look for the first time, you will realize love with this place. That is called love with first look. Harder Kulm is a local mountain of Interlaken. From the station, you have to walk for 3-4 minutes to reach the viewpoint and also you will find the restaurant here. Two Lakes Bridge
This bridge is a wonder of beauty in Harder Kulm. This is a wooden cantilever platform. First, you will see a magnificent cow on the bridge. This place is known for its unimpeded scenery of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Also, Two Lakes is a birds-eye view of the whole of Interlaken city as well you will see Thun Lake to the right, on the left the turquoise, and between them, you will see the beauty of Interlaken. Also, you will explore the triumvirate of the Eiger, Mönch and jungfrau.
Alpine Wild Animal Park
You will discover the world of animals in the Alpine Wild Animal Park. This is located at the base station of the Harderbahn Funicula Railway and on another side of the Alpine Wild Animal Park directly at the valley station in Interlaken.
You will see here ibex that was almost extinct in Switzerland in the 19th century. That is the main reason Alpine Wild Animal Park protects the Ibex. In my opinion, this is the most successful reestablish project. This park is open daily and obviously, this is free of cost. After visiting the whole Alpine, you will explore a small zoo.
Swiss Folklore Show
During summer Hurder Kulm turns into a live stage. From May to October, the Swiss Folklore Show performed with dance and music. You will explore in Swiss Folklore Show a cost-free concert. Harder Kulm Restaurent
The restaurant located on the local mountain is famous in Switzerland for its tasty cuisine. People come to this place all over vacations and weekends to see the beauty of Harder Kulm and enjoy the tasty food of this restaurant. Keep in mind for your benefit that no reservation system is available in this restaurant.
You can taste Swiss, Arabic, Asian, European, and Central European food. Vegetarian foods are also available here. Foods are served in the Harder Kulm Restaurant for dinner, lunch, or breakfast. If I say in short everyone finds something to eat every time. This is highly recommended to enjoy your dinner at sunset.
Children’s Playground
If you are with your children the Children’s Playground is highly recommended. I’m sure that your children will enjoy the playground. So we can say Harder Kulm is a family-friendly place. Your child can enjoy swings and slides in the playground. The Children’s Playground is located near the Panorama Restaurant. When your children play you can enjoy some local food or take the mountain scenery.
Hiking From Interlaken To Harder Kulm
The distance is 4 kilometers long from the Interlaken Ost station. Just start your hiking trail from Interlaken Ost station in the direction of Harder Kulm. It will take two hours to reach the Harder Kulm. You have to cross the railway again and again.
Harder Kulm to Ringgenberg
This Hiking will take almost two hours to finish. You have to walk through the forest. When you pass the forest, you will see an awesome view of Lake Brienz.
Hiking From Mountain Station To Elfenweg
The trail hiking from the mountain station to Elfenweg takes one hour. The hiking leads through the forest. This trail is perfect if you are on a family or couple tour.
Hiking From Harder Kulm to Augstmatthorn
The hiking from Harder Kulm to Augstmatthorn is not for faint-hearted people. It will take more than four hours to reach Lombachalp. For the whole Brienz Ridge Hike, you have to hike from Brienzer Rothorn. I will recommend carrying Good shoes and 2-3 liters of water minimum.
Must know before traveling to Harder Kulm
Switzerland is called the most beautiful natural gem in the world. People all over the world, who love to explore nature, must love to visit Switzerland. Harder Kulm is the most beautiful place in Switzerland. But when you plan to visit that place then you should know something before traveling.
As I already visited Harder Kulm before, I recommend you not to travel in the winter. From November to April, the railway from Interlaken to Harder Kulm is closed. But you can get there by hiking. This is also notable because it is also very dangerous for hiking in winter.
